class: center, middle # Terminal Activity  The icon for Terminal Activity in Sugar. #### _Please use space bar or arrow keys to move on_ [Return to Gallery](index.html) --- ### So you want to use the command line Your newly started version of Sugar does not include the Terminal Activity in the favorites wheel. Put another way the Terminal Activity is partially hidden from "first time users". -- Terminal Activity can be opened from the F3, Home view, **_List view_**, or you can expose it in Favorites view, as described here. -- Press the function key F3, or Home view key . --- At top right of Home view, Favorites, click **List view**.  --- Here is F3, Home view, _**List view**_.  **Scroll down ...** --- Scroll down the list of Activities, till you see Terminal Activity near the foot of the page.  --- Right click Terminal Activity icon then click **Make favorite**.  --- To return to Favorites view,  click on the **Favorites view** button on the top right of the screen. -- Notice that there is a Sugar hotkey for this, **Ctrl+1.** --- Start Terminal Activity with a click on the icon.  --- Terminal Activity, ready  -- The flashing cursor sits at the end of a short piece of text. This is called the prompt. --- Type in the simple command, date.  --- Press **Enter**, Terminal Activity responds by printing the date.  -- Notice the prompt returns ready for the next command.
